En:countering was conceived with the intention of providing an opportunity for a group of artists from different countries to work on a common theme founded on predetermined concepts but allowing each individual their own voice, their own method of translation and their own distinct interpretation.
En:countering was conceived as a platform for facilitation of cultural as well as social exchange and as a project has clear intentions. That said, there is no preconceived outcome as such beyond a series of ‘exhibitions’ a major part of the project being ‘in the making’. The ‘exhibitions’ will be documented and provide evidence of any such exchanges, the encountering, and each will be a springboard for further development of the project.
En:countering is seen as a vehicle through which to offer an expanded practice to an extended audience.
En:countering is committed to open-ended dialogue and critical analysis as a means of creative development and for the expansion of conceptual and practical work across national and international borders.
